Yes it's cheaper to pay using contactless - each adult needs their own contactless card. Children ages 10 and below travel free on the tube (with a paying adult) and bus (with or without a paying adult): at the tube stations, just use the wide ticket barrier for adults accompanying children.

Kids will travel free, just go though wider gate, we used contact less and was cheaper. Download the tfl go app to plan your routes. You can put place or station and it factors in line closures.

We used contactless about a month ago when we went, each tube journey worked out at £2.50 each. My bank added it all up and took the amount out after midnight.

After the first day of our then 5 year old squeezing quickly through with us we realised it was easier to go through the wider gate with him!!

The contactless cards cap at the same daily rate as oyster cards so no need for them. If you use the wider gates on the underground, let your children walk through with you

Hi all. Planning a trip to London in Feb. Haven’t been for years. Heard that it’s cheaper just to pay via contactless for underground rather than get a one/two day travel card. Is that right? We will be getting to Euston and will need to make our way to Waterloo via underground.

Don’t know how much else we will use it as planning on walking and seeing the sights.

If we tap through with debit card what do we do with the kids. They will be 5 and 10.

Thanks for the info!
