When writing a short story, is it okay to have an ambiguous ending that the reader can decide which way they want to believe? Like magic hit the opponent and there was screaming and leave it without saying who so they can decide for themselves who they preferred to win?

I personally don’t like open endings. But some people do. I think it is probably a small portion who both like and Prefer open endings. But all of that aside, a writer is an artist and you must be true to yourself and your art. Unless you are commissioned to write someone’s memoir, you should write what and how you want to write. It’s your vision.

Can’t say I am a fan of them but it’s your story so…

Generally speaking, I think most people would prefer a concrete ending.

you're gonna get approval and disapproval... you are the author it is for you to decide the ending. It is for your readers to discoed if that has put them off reading another work by you.
