How would I go about getting my older pet (8 years) insured?

What's the best bet? Would it be a good idea?

I have a 7 yr old rescue, large guardian, and couldn't get insurance that was affordable for him. So now, I pay a monthly plan at the vets which gets discounted consultations and flee, tick, and worm treatments. In addition, each month, I put a set amount of money in a savings account.

You are best just putting what you would pay away each month. You could pay and never claim where as this way you have the money there if needed.
