Hello everyone. My friend lives in zone 9 in California and wants to grow winter flowers. I am more into vegetables. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Crocus are a safe bet! Should be great through the winter down there. I’d also suggest tulips, and iris. They’re fairly hardy and should do well with up and down temps. I think you could also get away with dahlias or lisianthus.

I have both in my greenhouse, although a definite lean toward my flowering tropicals. But still. They aren’t mutually exclusive.

Do you mean “growing flowers in the winter”, if so, why? Cut flowers for arrangements or potted plants with flowers.
