I’m looking to take a slow boat from Pakbeng to Luang Probang in Laos, but can’t see anywhere that does this

Do they only do journeys from Huay Xai?

Anyone know where to get tickets from?

Thanks!

Just rock up to where the boats leave from at 0830 in the morning in pakbeng and talk to the captain of the boat that everyone is getting on. 99.9% chance there's a spot for you on the boat straight away.

Walk down to the pier in Pakbeng around 8am in the morning. It should cost you 150,000 kip and you can pay when the lady comes around on the boat. Don't pay anymore or to agencies either.

From Chiang Khong Nagi Cruises and Shompoo both have 2-day downriver trips to Luang Prabang that you can book ahead. Shompoo has a FB Page. Nagi has a website: nagiofmekong[.]com/

One thing I will say is this was one of the best journeys I have ever made in my life and made some long term friends on the boat! Enjoy..
