How have people finished their wooden (or not) posts?

My architect has drawn 200x200 wooden posts which are quite expensive. Potentially thinking of thinner posts and then boxing them in to give them the bigger look.

Just go with the 200 x 200 it will work out the same as thinner and cladding.

Compare the cost of adding wood to smaller posts or going with the 200 x 200 ones before you make your decision. It may not be cost effective to go for smaller ones that you have to clad.

Same happened to us years ago for an Australian homestead. Downsized and was always sorry.
