Hiya! Going to be driving from Punta Arenas, Chile up to Bariloche, Argentina very soon! These are our current ideas:
Sofia Laguna
El Chaltén
Marble Caves
Esquel
Bariloche
Any other suggestions for beautiful places to stop or must-sees along the way? Is it worth it to go down to Ushuaia? We love remote secret treasures that we may have to kayak or hike to so any suggestions are appreciated.
I did this drive 4 years ago, I would suggest to try to drive on the Chilean side as much as possible the road conditions are worse but there is a lot more to see.
I'd change Esquel to el Bolsón and the places around like lago puelo, epuyen, hoyo. You are also close to Calafate, the glacier is really impressive. I loved the vibe of ushuaia but if you don't have time, it's also not the end of the world not getting there.
Made this same trip about 4 years ago. Perito Moreno Glacier near El Calafate is worth a visit, also El Bolson just north of Esquel. It’s a hippy town with a neat carved wood forest that is worth checking out.
