Google Search Console: Sitemap could not be read

So, one of our websites has all of sudden been receiving this message in Google Search Console. However, when we test the sitemap, it is perfectly accessible. Any ideas or experience on how to fix this issue is greatly appreciated.

Double check the file type. It might be text and both XML. That could be triggering the html error.

Try with a different pluggin to create the sitemap.xml file then resubmit it.
