If fly, am I missing any must-see places along the way?

Appreciate your inputs!

Drive. You can hit the Rockies, the Okanagan and the desert around Osoyoos. It wouldn’t be a straight drive from
Calgary but you will see a lot of beautiful scenery. You could even throw Whistler and Hell’s Canyon in there if you have enough time.

Calgarian here with a 2nd base in Vancouver - fly if you want to save time. Book early as flights can be super cheap (50 cad on a budget carrier) - drive if you want to experience the mountains and highway passes. It can take upwards of 11+ hours but a beautiful drive.

When are you planning on doing this? Summer or winter? That may determine it all. If you don’t have winter driving experience, don’t. Summer is fine. The road between the two is amazing. Remote because it’s mostly mountains; but really beautiful if you like that kind of thing. Vancouver city is much more interesting than Calgary.

The main attractions to Calgary is the Rocky Mountains. Vancouver is just a nice, hip, outdoorsy city with lots to do and many surrounding areas of interest. Really depends what you’re looking to do and how long you have
