Can anyone explain the reason behind how upping fibre intake can help you absorb more protein?

While I have not heard of this I know fibre in general improves many aspects of digestion. It may be that the fibre brings the gut back to balance. Eg in the stomach stimulating increased stomach acid (hence less reflux gastritis etc).
In the large intestine providing the breeding ground for the right microbes to finish of the digestion/fermentation of proteins and facilitate absorption.
