Do most people buy a sim in every country or is there one plan that covers most of the area?

I'm just about to set off traveling around SE Asia for 3 months, what's the best option for getting phone data?

We bought sim in each country. £7-8 for a month data . Bought one sim then I just piggy backed off husbands card when I needed to.

New SIM in each country. Can get different plans. We usually went with 30 days unlimited data (or close to unlimited data) and it was always between $5-10. It's also worth it if you use grab or food panda as the drivers can ring you if there is any question, also sometimes they will cancel orders if they see you have a foreign number.
