How long do people recommend spending in Chiang Mai?

To be conservative, start with the rest of your life first, and then see if you like it. Actually, it's pretty nice there, but maybe not so exciting in the end, so maybe between 4-7 days max?

Use it as a base to take 1-3 day trips out of....the place is bigger than the small area you might bunk at.....Dou Suthep, Doi Inthanon, Samoeng Loop, MHS, Pai all great stops.

I've spent 3 days, twice and wished I'd stayed longer. But definitely stay for a full weekend like Thursday morning to Tuesday or something.

If I were you with every location I’d book 3 nights then when you are there you can decide if you want to extend it also gives you chance to check you like the area and hostel / hotel you are staying
