I get to tag along on a business/work trip to Sitka, Alaska in mid April

First time in Alaska and I realize it’s not quite “season” in mid April. Looks like a lot of excursions and/or tours don’t start until a month later.

I would appreciate any advice and recommendations!

It’s shoulder season at that time. Summer tours don’t start til may/June and it’s too late for winter tours. But I’m sure some do run year round.d just depends on the activity. I’d do some research on google to see what’s available during that time

Be sure to visit the Alaska Raptor rescue center. You’ll see bald and golden eagles, hawks, falcons, owls, etc.

I was in a similar situation a couple of years ago, but in Anchorage. I believe Sitka has a Visitors Center.. begin by going there (or call before you go). I bet they’ll give or send you literature to familiarize you with the area and help you plan some interesting activities.
