.. Does anyone know of anywhere I could take him? I was thinking of the science museum but was wondering if anyone knew of a little gem somewhere in the UK.

Bletchley Park might well interest him as there is a lot of maths interest in the secret codes.

Maths city in Leeds for the maths but they don't have flag/country stuff.

Maritime Museum in Greenwich has a selection of nautical flags and maps not sure if that’s what your looking for.
