How long does it take to be fully dilated?

Good afternoon doctors, I'm 37weeks and 3days pregnant. I am feeling pain in my vagina so I went to the hospital. The doctor check and saw that I was 2cm dilated and I was asked to go home and come back when the pain is more intense.

My question is:  How long does it take to be fully dilated?

There's no known time for full dilation as it all depends on nature and lots of other factors.

You are term and as such you should expect labour at any time. Signs of labour include regular painful contractions, 'show'( blood stained mucus discharge), rupture of membrane, etc. If you are having any of these, please see your gynecologist. All the best.
