Budapest is wonderful and I would recommend searching the group page for previous recs. I always recommend the Szemlo-Hyegi Cave Walk, Dohany Synagogue and Jewish Quarter Tour, Parliament, Hospital in the Rock, Szechenyi Baths, a train ride out to Szentendre, and the original Chocolate Museum--NOT the one downtown by Parliament. Also, Gundel restaurant, Fisherman's Bastion, St. Stephen's Basilica, and St. Matthias.

BATHS! Bring a towel from home or pick up a microfiber towel at Decathlon there. My favorite bath is Lukacs but Gellert, etc are all popular. Bring swimsuit & flipflops.

The Opera house in Budapest is now open after refurbishment. Most beautiful Opera house I’ve seen, and I’ve seen quite a few! The tour even includes a short performance, a must visit.

Take a food tour. We loved it, sample local cuisine while walking through the city. We prefer a food tour over a standard city walking tour.

Lots of good recommendations here. I will add...high tea at the New York Cafe, the market, and Shoes on the Danube memorial.
