Whenever i try to buy an expired domain, moz spam score frightens me!

Even if i buy a domain with high spam score, can i proceed without getting a ranking drop from Google?

Are there any other reliable spam score metrics?

No, I bought over 15 domains that had high span score without any afect on rankings.
