Backlinks are just one strategy and should be incorporated into a broader marketing plan where you work on backlinks, keywords, etc. If you mean you want to start marketing but don't want to work with backlinks I'd start with your keyword research obviously and building your copy and content around that. A good ads campaign on either search of social will help grow traffic. Good content will authentically grow its own backlinks overtime.
