- I passed my test last year and I now have a years of no claims. Every new quote I’m getting is with a black box fitted, does anybody know why this may be?!

I didn’t even have one for the first year of driving so I’m very confused!

I’m pretty sure you can filter it on the comparison websites to say don’t show b boxes I had the same trouble but found esure or admiral didn’t make me have one hope that helps.

Have you tried go skippy insurance. My partner passed last year and is due for renewal this month and these have come out the best for him without a black box.

My daughter went with Hastings last year her 1st year driving she had a black box but absolutely no restrictions it does however monitor your driving but like I said tk my daughter that’s a good thing she always has over 80% and this year her new quote is a few hundred less , still with a black box fitted but like I said it’s not always a bad thing

Someone else has suggested Marmalade. We found them very good too. My daughter had learner insurance in her own name and converted to fully comp when she passed her test. Black box not an issue - no mileage restrictions or times of driving. Worth looking at

A few tops tips when wanting insurance. Get quotes few weeks before yours is due to expires and NEVER on a weekend, they seem to bump the price up on weekends as that’s generally when people buy a new car also if your insurance runs out on a weekend try insuring it on the Monday not the day is runs out yes I know it means you may no be able to drive your car that weekend but if it saves you 100s in the long run it’s definitely worth it.

Iv got 13+ years no claims, dependents and home owner and they still seem to want to bump the price up.

Tbh it doesn’t come down much after 1 year. My son had black box for 2 years (£1000 year 1, £800 year 2, £600 year 3 no box and this year was £400) it’s probably best to take second year with black box but find one with no restrictions. It’s so expensive when you’re young!

Whatever you do, DO NOT get insurance with Hastings. They use an app & it never worked properly. Despite emailing them several times & responding to emails from them, they ended up cancelling my daughter's insurance meaning we had to start from scratch for her No Claims. They are absolutely useless.

Please avoid boom insurance... They cancelled mine with no emails... Texts or phone calls!!! They said I'd missed a payment... Money was in the bank they didn't even attempt to take it!
