For the opening that is Anterior Fontanelle (AF)! The anterior fontanelle and smaller posterior fontanelle are normal and present in all children.

Posterior fontanelle closes by 0 - 6 months.

Anterior Fontanelle closes by 18 - 24 months averagely in healthy children. Some conditions can cause delay in closure.
