Is it possible for dogs to just get bored with their food?

Hi all. I have a 6 1/2 year old Chihuahua/min poodle mix, usually weighs 14 pounds but is short a few ounces currently. For a while now he hasn’t been finishing his food but will take all the treats if given and any people food he can find.

Is it possible for dogs to just get bored with their food? He has no other symptoms and his labs were fine.

Any advice would be appreciated.

You can definitely try a different food to see if it helps. I’d be careful making your own food at home as they often don’t get all the nutrients they need from homemade foods and sometimes need supplements. Personally I’d only make my own dog food under the advice from a nutritionist.

As long as his weight is healthy, I wouldn’t worry much.

He is bored with his food so try something home. made but animal friendly similar to his his tastes.
