I bought this table on Marketplace it is around 100 yrs old and have now upstyled. Stain ended up darker due to the type of wood.
My problem is I bought four chairs that are rubber wood and I am finding them very hard to sand and stain, the combined stain and satin varnish seems to just sit on the wood. Oil stain does not take just pools.
What are your thoughts؟ I didn’t really want to paint but it may be my only option!

Check out Black Japan for your chairs. The colour looks close to the table top. It comes as a paint but looks more like a stain when dry.
Chalk paint would look lovely and it requires minimal prep work. Just clean and paint really.
