Do some people just implement GA4 code?

So this might seem dumb but I am just thinking and reviewing some of my very old sites and upgrading to GA4. Surely everyone is just implementing GTM code on sites and links to GA4. Or do some people just implement GA4 code?

Would be curious to get peoples thoughts and use cases.

The only reason I can think of why someone wouldn’t use the GTM method is because they don’t know how to use GTM.

GTM is easier to test and debug if Conversions are working in real time.
