The pink mantle piece is marble but had a large crack in it.

The marble looks like it’s holding up the brick so I’m too afraid to remove it. Is there such a thing as marble repair? If it could be fixed I would leave it in place.

I love the pink marble, I'd do whatever it takes to repair, then render the bricks, or gyprock to make it nice and smooth and paint white.

Also, either build the heart up or knock the high bit down, to make it all the same level (they've obviously had to extend it to meet regs), a nice pink pattern tile to tie in with the pink marble.

Sandstone over the top and tiles and a wood fire. Depends on how far that brick goes on right wall too and the rest of room for context.

I kinda love the floor tiles. I reckon keep those and paint the bricks - I think black or charcoal would be moody and amazing. Keep the marble too. Fill the crack with gold?
I hate a feature wall though so would need to keep all the walls the same colour.

Are you going to use it as a fire place? If not ,demolish the whole structure and use the space.

New mantle, new hearth tiles, render brickwork. Depends on what style you are after, options could be endless.

Looks so solid and well made. I’d chop off mantle. Render fireplace. And if u don’t want to Jackhammer up floor tiles , prime them and then tile over top.

A good stone mason can repair most cracks. You could paint the bricks or reline with plasterboard. You could also over clad the marble with timber and stain or paint. Remove the floor tiles.

I would lime wash the bricks so they're a nice soft white. Could even retile with a soft pink tile similar shape to match the marble, I don't think would be very costly to do that. I think with white bricks the pink will look really nice.
