Tip for those of us on a budget and watching the pennies

.. when you open a bag of potatoes pop an apple in the bag the potatoes will not sprout or go off and last for weeks.

Or! Let them 3 of them sprout. Put in a bucket with some compost & you’ll have potatoes growing all year. No need to go out & buy. I’ve just discovered this.

I'll have to try that cause I absolutely hate it when they sprout in the cupboard.

I know that it’s not recommended but I put baking potatoes in the salad drawer in the fridge. They last a lot longer.

I was given a tip about carrots. if you wrap them in foil and put in the fridge they last for weeks I have done this and it really works!

And absolutely never store onions with potatoes because they’ll have the opposite effect.
