How would you hang curtains on a wall that has a split system unit in the middle of it?

How would you hang curtains on a wall that has a split system unit in the middle of it? I had visions of a full wall of sheers to cover 2 large windows (the wall is mostly windows), but the split system means I can't go from the ceiling down like I wanted to. It faces northeast so gets lovely morning light through it.

Or what would you do instead? They are two 2.4 m wide windows to the floor with a 50cm pillar in between.
