Good evening doctor.

I want to ask; which one should be more?

Complementary food or breast feeding?

I mean which one should we give more?

My son likes to suck, even after feeding him complementary food.

He still suck breast like we are still on exclusive.. it’s tiring.

He is 8months old!

Current weight not known.

We did exclusive.

The aim of complementary feeding is not to reduce or get rid of breastfeeding. Both feeding methods should co-exist normally. Kindly ensure that you are feeding him right. There's nothing wrong with breastfeeding baby on demand.

EXCERPT from Facts for Feeding:

Increase feeding frequency as the child ages

Feed 6–8 month old infants complementary foods 2–3 times per day.

Feed 9–11 month old infants complementary foods 3–4 times per day.

Feed 12–24 month old children complementary foods 3–4 times per day.

Offer nutritious snacks 1–2 times per day, as desired.
