Advice needed.. We recently completed our bathroom Reno, and where just waiting for the custom showscreen. Today the glazier came in and installed most of the shower-screen. To my surprise it's a framed shower-screen... which I didn't have in mind for our bathroom. And never said I wanted.

Orginallaly we where going to buy a frameless showerscreen from Highgrove but when the tiles got installed the tiler noted that that showerscreen wouldnt fit. He recommended a glazier he knew.

Long story short, what do I do?

Apparently he doesn't do frameless showerscreens.. Ask him to return it? Do I have to pay him?

Yeah...looks more like "before". But I honestly think it was your responsibility to make it very clear what you exactly want and need, and not just to assume he knows without you saying

Wow,, unfortunately I feel the screen looks very dated, maybe you could spray over the brass it can be done..

Return it. It makes your bathroom look decades old.

Unfortunately it is your responsibility to ensure you have clarified the scope of the work… you will have to pay him and also pay him to remove it if that’s what you want to do… That is unless you have documentation proving you ordered/asked for a frameless one? If you have a builder doing the project and you have proof you told him then that would be sufficient if he was responsible for subcontracting the glazier?

I do feel for you though because he really should have asked…

I agree with the comments that the framing doesn’t look great but I also think the shape of the shower area makes it look a bit dated. It may be difficult to win this one without a proper written quote unfortunately.

I feel for you but perhaps the order was only verbal & easily misconstrued? Without anything in writing it'll be hard to not pay. If this is the case I 'd have a chat with him & ask if it can be exchanged or modified at minimal cost

It's very heavy. I feel like this definitely should have been discussed before installation. Did he not mention abut choosing brass to match your fittings? I would have thought all that would have been mentioned instead of presumed. It really does date the space 😔 at least if you have to keep, see if the top can be removed as I think that makes it look really heavy and boxed in. With just the side and bottom it may not look too bad.

Did you discuss with framer you wanted flameless? As you never mentioned that in your post & did his quote say frameless?

If it was discussed & you have evidence then ring him to discuss this not what was ordered.

If nothing was discussed unfortunately you are liable to pay.

Is it missing the door? It looks like a lot of water would spill out if he’s not planning on installing a door. I don’t think the frame is that bad, it offers sturdiness at least. I think with other comments saying that it looks dated, it because of the shape of the shower how the squared edge is cut off creating that angle in many 90’s homes. I don’t think removing the gold framing would change the appearance of that a lot. What would be the solution without the frame? Where would the panels of glass go to keep water from spilling on the floor?

I actually really like it and think it looks nice and soft and adds a lovely contrast to your beautiful bathroom.
