Has anyone replaced an external aluminium glass sliding door with timber french doors?

Any issues we should be aware of?

We've had a range in prices between $3.5k to $6.5k for 1800x2100mm installed.

One option is we buy the doors in a jamb delivered to central coast but will require a carpenter to install. Any idea on installation costs?

We swapped sliding doors for wooden French doors last house, same size. Removal of aluminium slider & installation of French doors took around 6 hours (we ordered Frame with doors also).

Lots of variables based upon size, type French doors etc. If your house double brick or wood will have impact so bit hard answer.

Are you ordering frame with French doors or expecting builder create frame. Lots variables honestly to consider and not straightforward question to answer.

If it’s just a swap in out for same size.

Then a carpenter will install it in approx 4-8hours.

Will need some consumables like expanding foam for gaps and new architrave so allow $150-200 for that.

I would budget 800-1000 all up.
