Is this area safe where the red pin is?

Yes. I've been to Barcelona a few times and have never felt unsafe regardless of the time or neighborhood. That area is right in the center of the city and by many of the tourist attractions. It would be a good place to stay.

It is a great area. I was just there in September and loved the city!

It’s in a touristy area. We were in Barcelona in February and our hotel warned us to be very mindful in the old quarter and near Las Ramblas as there were several recent strong arm daylight robberies on tourists. Just be aware of your surroundings and you’ll be fine!

LOVE that neighborhood. Wear a small crossbody bag with a good zipper, and just be aware of your surroundings! Have fun!

Others may be able better comment on safety, but it’s a very touristy area, you’re very close to Las Ramblas, which will have people day and night, you might prefer staying in a less populated area and using the metro to get around, which is very easy.
