Best BBQ restaurants and off the beaten track things to do/see «in Kansas City»?
Traveling to Kansas City, MO in mid April. Best BBQ restaurants and off the beaten track things to do/see? Lover of good food, good sights, pic opps here.
Everyone is going to give you a different "favorite" BBQ place in KC. My personal favs are Joe's KC (I recommend the Z-Man sandwich), Q39, Slap's (it's a little more out of the way, but FANTASTIC), and if you're looking for a little "fancier" BBQ, Jack Stack.
In Penn Valley Park, The Scout statue (west side) or Liberty Memorial (north side, across from Union Station) both have good views of the city. The WWI Museum at Liberty Memorial is very interesting. If you like Italian food, go to Garozzo's Ristorante. Their stuffed artichoke is delicious.
If you visit the Scout statue it has a nice backdrop view of the city. Also, the main downtown branch of the Public Library has cool facade to the parking lot - a line of book spines, like a row of books lined up. On 10th st, between Wyandotte St and Baltimore Ave.
We loved the cocktails at Swordfish Tom's - it's cash only and you may have to wait on a line to get in, but the drinks are really good and creative.
My personal favorite when we are in or going through KC, is Jack stack!! There are multiple locations but we Particularly like the one on 22nd street near union Station & science city, there's a bridge over the train tracks from the restaurant to the station and you can watch the trains.
