Good evening doctors. Thanks for all you do for us here. May God bless you all abundantly. I have a baby of 9 months who has been having recurrent cough for over 3 months now.

She's always having cough and catarrh back to back.

Once she gets relieved for few days, it comes back with full force.

We have been to the hospital severally, the doctors always give piriton syrup and antibiotics.

At some point she was given cough syrup which I once read here that it's dangerous so I didn't use it.

I have also been to the general hospital when I noticed there was no improvement.

The paediatrician also prescribed antibiotics which we used faithfully. My fear is that I'm worried about her immunity getting reduced due to this everyday antibiotics.

What else can we do please? I'm really sad seeing her this way. She doesn't feed well too, she's a very picky eater. I don't know if it has anything to do with the cough.

Cw- 7.5kg

We cannot say if the cough is related to the eating or not until we know the cause.

You may want to go to a Teaching Hospital and get proper investigations done as to the underlying cause of the respiratory infections.

Antibiotics do not reduce any immunity.

You should ask the doctors why your child is having recurrent cough. It is very important to know the underlying cause. It is not usual for a baby to be having recurrent respiratory infections. There must be an underlying issue.
