Good afternoon Drs. Thank you for all you do here.

My baby is 9 days old. I noticed she has a soft spot on her skull, not just the front part which I learnt is called fontales but the soft spot is like a line from the front part of the skull down to the back of the skull. Please what should I do about this?

Birth weight is 2.95kg

Not to worry.

Fontanelle and sutures are normal part of the baby’s head.

The fontanelle is a soft hole or space while the sutures refers to the spaces between bones on the skull. Together both accommodate the baby’s brain growth.
