Why is my dog panting the whole car ride?

I could really use some advice! My dog is 2 and we have always exposed her to car journeys, short and long. She’s always been fine and mostly sleeps, but the past couple of days she has started excessively panting in the car to the point she doesn’t stop for even a second.

We’ve stopped to give her a drink, our windows down, windows up, tried everything and she is definitely not hot or thirsty. The panting seems to be accompanied by shaking and nervous signs like lip licking, but she has always been fine in the car.

As soon as she gets out of the car she stops immediately.

I’m just wondering if anyone has any ideas on what may be the issue, we haven’t changed cars or anything else about our journeys and it’s worrying me!

Thanks..

One of my dogs used to do that, and she got to where she would get so nervous she pooped right where she laid even if that was on my lap. And she wasn't always that way either. She loved going in the car at first, so idk...maybe motion sickness.

My dog is the same. Keeps whining/crying as well . I've tried putting him at the back and it's a lot better. I think it's nerves as they are not keen to be on a moving vehicle with no one holding them for comfort/protection. Sounds silly but try music on n popping dog at back n see if it makes a difference.

Try putting a crate in the back seat to see if that helps her feel more secure.

May have been some road noise that had set her off and making her nervous. My older dog got worse when we were traveling and had to pass other cars and had to go over the yellow line with rumble strips pressed into the road.

It’s werid as mine also LOVED being in the car as it meant he goes places and hated staying home now he’s a home body .. is there any kinda spray or something for dogs that anyone has tried to calm them down?

Take her for a long walk or run you out her in the car and by this I don’t mean let her out in the back yard to play. This will drain some of her energy/anxiety!
