I have a question. I'm wanting a greenhouse for plant starts in spring, overwintering some trees and maybe having my hand at growing vegetables during winter.

I hear a lot about how difficult it gets during summer to keep the greenhouse cool.

What are you growing in the summer that you would have to worry about it?

basically, everything. it is very easy for a greenhouse to reach 100 and above in the summer... You will need to research, fans , shade cloth. Depending on what you want to try and grow, shade cloth can help keep a greenhouse cooler, BUT, plants also need adequate lighting... I grow cucumber and tomatoes early and let them die off as the ones in the garden come ripe. Then plant a few late summer to extend into nov/ almost Christmas.

What zone are you in? I’m in 6b in Ohio. I put 50% shade cloth on May-Sept, two over head fans, one large fan on the ground and roll up sides and really haven’t had issues yet. I don’t heat at all so I’m very limited on what I can extend through the fall/winter but at that point for me I’m over it and ready for a break. Lol

Everything. Temperature fluctuations are very stressful for plants and encourages disease and pests.
