My baby [16months old] has mucus in her stool

.. She isn't purging but there is mucus in the stool. She just finished antibiotics a week ago and the mucus stool is back with periodic fever. I was told to just manage the fever and the mucus in the stool will resolve by itself.

Please is this right?

I asked if she could be given another antibiotics but the doctor refused.

What do you mean by periodic fever? Did you check the temperature with a thermometer? What was the reading? If the baby is having fever that doesn't resolve after giving appropriate dose of paracetamol in 48-72hrs, then you need to take her to the hospital.

Temperature between 36.5 - 37.5 is normal. Anything above that is fever. Below is hypothermia i.e low body temperature

As regards to mucus in stool and how to avoid them; it could be caused by infection, food allergy, food poisoning etc.

Just observe and watch what you give and make sure you maintain a high standard of hygiene during preparation and feeding. Ensure you wash your hands before and after feeding. Also ensure that the water is boiled or bottled water.
