.. He’s been fed human food no dog food. He hasn't ate anything since he’s been here at lunch yesterday (had 2 poops when here)

Ge has dog food but he won’t eat it:(

How can I transition him to a dog food he will eat, will he eat when he’s hungry?

He’s very overweight for being a pomchi which can tell are from the human left overs.

Just want to help him get healthy and be happy

Picture of our new buddy so don’t get lost:

Try some canned food for a while and then slowly start mixing in the dry kibble. If that doesn’t work you may have to do the same thing, just with chicken and rice for a while.

my dog is spoiled and won’t eat his dog food plain. I’ll admit I do share a lot when my food isn’t harmful to him, but i got him back to regularly eating his dog food by him thinking I’m “making” him something. I’ll scoop his food and put it on the counter and stir it and pretend I’m doing stuff to it when I’m really just adding broth or homemade stock to it. I don’t add a lot just enough for him to smell it.

Try softening kibble in hot water bit gravy. U can buy add dry veg in it too for a start.

They have human grade dog food at some grocery stores, in a refrigerated section. Try starting with that if you can find it. The cost is comparable to kibble if you feed the recommended amount by weight and they love it.

He will eat when he’s hungry. Stick to the no human food. You can try canned food or a raw diet to ease his transition

What if you start off with a mostly human food meal - like 80% human food, 20% either wet or extremely “smelly” (but in a good way smelly) food and mix the two together and just slowly begin to add more dog food and do less human food until he’s eating mostly or all of food??

Definitely try wet food. When I adopted my puggle, she was fed a lot of people food from what I could tell and wouldn’t eat dog food. I fed her Chicken Soup for the Soul canned food and added a few bits of dry proplan. I just kept adding more dry food and less canned. She now eats dry Proplan with fish oil on it, green beans, carrots and some baked chicken added in with water mixed together.

There's a FB group called Homemade Healthy Dog Food and Treats. Gently cooked food but everything that is super nutritious for your pooch. If that's what he is used to, you could gradually introduce kibble until he's more used to it

Start making chicken and rice mixed with kibble. Then slowly add more kibble. You can also use broth on the kibble or a raw egg or vitamin a fish oil squirted on the kibble.

Try Fresh Pet in the refrigerator in the pet food section. It comes in rolls. Looks like bologna. I mix it with Purina One. My dogs gobble it up.

i'm not surprised he won't eat dog food after being fed human food for years! would you eat that bland baked biscuit instead of leftovers? joking aside maybe try him on a raw diet. I feed mine raw and they love it.
