We are on oral medication as my 3 year old is nearly balding from it. My cats been quarentined in the bathroom for going on week 6.

The lady at the shelter we got him from says if we all have it he doesn't need to be contained.

I want to let him out as he is stressed out but I read they do need to be kept separate until cleared.

Anyway this lady makes me feel like a horrible cat mom for quarantining. So, I am wondering anyone elses experience with the beating ringworm

Is there a kennel you could possibly put them in and a different closed off room to finish the medication? 6 weeks seems a bit much, but I’ve never dealt with ringworm.

Maybe add some toys and treats in there. Cats need as much enrichment and mental thinking as a dog does, could be why they’re stressing in the bathroom.

Ugggg! Been there! Oral meds didn’t totally kill it in my kitties, had to use medicated shampoo and a liquid that I would put on affected areas. I had 38 spots on me at one time.

I did not confine my kitties but I did not let them in my bedroom. It took 4 months to get all cleared up.

Given that you’ve all got it there’s not much reason to quarantine BUT if he’s still shedding the fungus he can leave it all over your house which can lead to reinfection later so leaving him in a confined space will help you with cleaning up / preventing further infection (fungal spores can live in the environment for months).

They usually stop shedding after a few days of treatment so you would probably be okay to let him out now. You can always call your vet and ask for their advice.
