(apart from Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods) We’d love to do some really scenic drives and a few easy hikes (I had hip surgery 3 months ago) Any good restaurants too?

TIA!

Definitely make time for the Royal Gorge. They have a train route or visit the park. We did the zip line then walked across the bridge (think it’s the highest or longest suspension bridge in the US, or something). Phenomenal!!

The Manitou Cliff Dwellings and the associated museum were very interesting. Both are small and other than a step or two for the dwelling and a few more for the museum, very manageable for accessibility. Cave of the winds is also quite neat and the Discovery tour might be ok for your needs. Border Burger in Manitou Springs is really, really good.

In CO Springs, we enjoyed the Rabbit Hole, Marigold Cafe and Skirted Heifer for dining. In CO Springs, we also did the Space Foundation, Western Museum of Mining, World War II aviation museum. To us, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (in CO Springs) and associated drive to the Will Rogers Shrine to the Sun were a no miss.

The Broadmoor restaurants and grounds are always a special treat.

Things to do: Cave of the Winds, Seven Falls, The Broadmoor Hotel is fun to walk through - grab a bite at the Golden Bee, USOPC Museum, definitely check out Manitou and Old Colorado City.

Hiking: Paint Mines has some great easy hikes as does Mount Herman in Monument (15 min drive from Colo Spgs), Red Rock Canyon Open Space is great for hiking too. The Barr Trail is fun too, but depending on what you’re used to it may not be easy.

Gorgeous drives - go up to Woodland Park, Divide, Buena Vista (about 2 hours), Cripple Creek, or Victor. There’s a lot of cool mining stuff in Victor. From Buena Vista you can go the back way to Breckenridge and it’s gorgeous!

Dining: in the Springs - Jake and Telly’s, Four by Brother Luck, Cowboy Star, Basil and Barley, Paravinci’s, the Loop, Adam’s Mountain Cafe, Denver Biscuit Co, Atomic Pizza, Shugas.

The Air Force Academy allows visitors. That might be interesting to see. The chapel is gorgeous and they have a huge solar panel farm.

US Olympic Museum is interesting and very interactive.

Cerberus is a pub with great food (you must have their truffle fries). It’s in Old Colorado City which has a very quaint stretch of shops etc.

The Rabbit Hole is a fun restaurant with good food - google their story- but hard to get in. Make reservations in advance.

I'm from the Springs. Cog railway is opening May 2021. Do that in the AM. Hit Manitou Springs for an hour of touristy shopping, but download a walking tour of Manitou's spring houses & spend an hour doing that.

Lots of eateries here. Sun Water Spa - get a private cedar hot tub reservation & watch a glorious sunset while soaking in the mineral waters. Day 2 Get to Garden of the Gods & hike the trails.

(You could spend all day plus. Easy easy hikes. White House Ranch is right there; make a reservation & visit. Head to Old Colorado City (just 5 min from GoG) ang go to Monse's Pupusaria for lunch. That's a must. Walk around historic Old Colorado City; spend time in the park.

(Make sure to use those fancy bathrooms.) Head to downtown Colorado Springs & visit the Mint Museum before it closes; give yourself 60 - 90 min for a visit. Great eateries downtown. I love Red Gravy. Day trip from the Springs, day 3. Paint Mines. Get back to town for a sunset dinner on the rooftop - Hacienda Colorado has great views.

We often get snow storms right up until Mother's Day. But some days we'll be in the 70's & 80's before then. Dress in layers. Tee, hoodie, coat. It's cold instantaneously when the sun drops behind the mountains & the wind is always cold.

Enjoy!
