I am new here. This is my first post. After 38 years of journaling, scribbling down thoughts, short stories, memoirs etc.
I finally started writing my first book.
I don’t know what I’m doing or if I’m good enough but I have so many stories to tell.
It has been pestering me for years, especially lately, since I have had a little more free time. Better late than never right?
I was inspired by the book, “Made” by Stephanie Land. If she can do it I can do it.
Do I have an extremely long road ahead of me? Is it worth it?
I finally started writing my first book – Better late than never right?
Write something everyday and one day it will all fall together. It took me 8 years to finish my first novel well be published MAY 2023 self-publishing.
Ha! I definitely don’t have much of an idea at all what I’m doing as an author. Some of us do here, for sure, but many of us are finding our way along this journey.
I would advise not to worry yourself with if you are doing it “right” or “wrong,” but if you are writing what you feel is accurate. Continue to build your support community for your writing, and most importantly, keep writing. Find a disciplined way to keep going forward, even on days you don’t feel like it.
Being an author is about the practice of writing…keep on going!
And yes. It is worth it. The process alone is cathartic and humbling, encouraging and terrifying. It is a feat to finish a work that is authentic and original, even if you only ever have one reader.
