BBC 1 Scam Interceptors, show how they operate, yet they fail to recommend that if you have a landline & a mobile, whichever you're being targetted on, phone your Bank etc., on the other - in case scammers are keeping your line open.

My landline isn’t even plugged in. When I get a call on my mobile from a number I don’t recognise I ask who’s calling before I even confirm my name.

You can cut the connection on a mobile you can't on a landline unless you made the call.

That's why you should NEVER answer a call from someone you don't know. If someone wants you, they would leave a message. If they ask to call you back, and you don't know who left the message, first check on WHOCALLEDME who that number belongs to.
