Has ro turn off comments as it seemed to be getting heated.

We all know everyone's diabetes experience is different, however outdated advice isn't helpful!.

And to be fair no one's kids have to miss out having treats as there is other options available they just cost more sadly and obviously a lot more work! On my journey I have seen allsorts available from chocolate, waffles, deserts, ice creams you name it!

Just a shame it's costly and that puts strain on people and sometimes it can't be done! Even lower carb Yorkshire puddings want to try them tbf!

To be honest after getting retinopathy in both eyes and awaiting surgery as blind in my left eye now and high blood pressure issues and statins to follow now and weight issues a while back I have switched my diet to a low carb and the difference has been grand, flatlining most of the time and my blood sugars are often in the 5's BUT while low carbing I have had 2 low events in 3 weeks snit goes by the law of small numbers smaller doses to correct and snaller anounts needed to bring you right and I have found that you can get almost any food available as an alternative such as waffles, pancakes made with almond flour and chocolates etc there is a lot about from a lot of places! Just costs more sadly 🙁 If I had done this years back I do believe it would have saved me a lot of what I'm going through now been type 1 34 years! I had 4 100% time in range last week alone. But that's just me and it does work for me as a person and what I do dor my job as I'm a plasterer so physcially demanding!

I understand it wouldn't work for everyone! But making a nice change to myself now just changing some foods about and trying something different! My a1c has dramatically reduced also which is good!

I spent my teens and 20s and 30s eating whatever I wanted and doing the insulin for it and up and down like a roller coaster trying to correct and over correcting then going low constantly 🙁 now I'm paying the price for it so decided to make a change!

That's just me though!

We have no reason to vent. Its no one else's business. The poor man. they maybe newly diagnosed and just trying to get their heads around it just like all. of us did. We all. looked at ways to improve bloods and I'm sure nearly everyone of us looked at low carbs being an option. We shouldn't judge

Yep I’m gobsmacked
If he had said Type2 a low carb Diet can reverse it.
Every time I reduce my daughters carbs we have so many hypos.
She has never missed out on any treats.

We were so miffed, the precedent it sets is not good and it made me feel sad that his child would not get to live the life that other children do

I read it as it was the dad's decision not to let his child have all the nice things (sweets chocolate) the kids should have. Why not?? Let her live a normal life a bit of choccy can't hurt!

Yep. Say to my daughter she can have what she likes but just needs to carb for it....obviously the lower carb are better as its less insulin to inject...but never say she should miss out. EVER! X
