Can someone tell me where is the difference between Heathrow Connect, Heathrow Express and Underground transportation at London Heathrow airport?

We are going to change the plane from Terminal 3 to Terminal 4 and I'm not sure which transportation is easier for us (two kids and an elderly person).

They'll guide you. It's an internal transfer.
People that have no idea are confusing you.

Heathrow Express – Fast train connecting Heathrow and London (Paddington), takes only 15 minutes.

Underground – A section of the Piccadilly line of the London tube system, as it runs through the Heathrow terminals. The recently introduced Elizabeth Line also similarly serves Heathrow.

Heathrow Connect – This may no longer exist. It used to be a slower version (more stops) of Heathrow Express.

Please note that the Heathrow airport website specifically says only Elizabeth Line and Heathrow Express are free, which implies the Piccadilly Line is no longer recommended for airport transfers. The website also says that you should obtain a free inter-terminal transfer ticket from one of the ticket machines if using Elizabeth Line or Heathrow Express.

You should check whether flight connection buses or Heathrow Express/Elizabeth Line is a better option for you.

All of the train lines are only an option if you clear UK customs, and it doesn’t sound like you will do that here. Otherwise follow signs to different terminals/shuttle buses.

If you’re outside security, any train of any kind is free to use and I’m pretty sure all stations are accessible. Inside security, there are shuttle buses.

I was just in Heathrow on a layover and we needed to go through security. It was well-marked and easy. You won’t need to pay anything to switch terminals- just follow the signs and ask for help if needed.

Rather than asking here, ask when you check in for your first flight. Once you land, it’ll be very clear what you need to do and if you’re not sure, ask a flight attendant or one of the ground staff who work for the airline.

It’s really not that confusing. If you think assistance would be helpful to get to your next flight, request it now. They need to know ahead of time so it can be arranged.

There may be a lot of walking involved so it may be worth getting this set up if the other adult has any mobility issues.
