Good day Doctors, please my son will be 5 months old on d 26th of may, I was told that putting hand to mouth is part of the developmental milestones but my son's own is excessive, he always puts his hands in his mouth to d extent he throws up sometimes, even wen breatfeeding he will be trying to fit his hands into his mouth or he will just remove his mouth from the breast to put his hands inside his mouth. I have tried to put baby mittens on his hands, it doesn't help as he still puts d hand in his mouth...

My mom is saying I should rub bitter leaf water on it, but I don't know if I am supposed to do that, what can I do to stop him from always putting his hands in his mouth even when he isn't hungry.

Do not rub anything on the hand.

It's just an habit which will stop on it's own. There is really nothing to do to stop it. Just pay more attention to hygiene and keep the hands clean always to reduce risk of infections.

You can wear him mittens too.
