She’s our first fur baby so just wanted to post on here and ask what to expect and how to care for her post op.

Also I was told to look into a soft/inflatable cone for her neck rather than the plastic one from the vets, if anyone can recommend one or a better alternative that would be great.

Thanks in advance!💗

We used onsies. Donut collars can be pushed off with back feet and the e-collars make them super stressed.
We kept our girls in a huge dog crate to keep them from jumping the first few days.

Watch for swelling/ redness one of my girls swelled up to golf ball sized lump, she was allergic to her stitches and rejecting them.

Only 1 of 6 of the cats I’ve had altered have messed with the stitches and required a cone, she couldn’t handle that so she got a baby onesie and was happier with that on. Don’t try to contain your cat to ‘keep her calm’ because that makes them just the opposite.

Just where possible stop her from jumping and playing. If you have any concerns either post on here or message your vet, it’s better to be safe.

I used a surgery suit from Amazon rather than a cone.

Most cats don't bother the incision. I worked for vets and one was never used. I've also never used one on my dogs. Only had 1 male dog chew his out and my vet put in staples and he left it alone.

We used a vest for our kitty! she kept trying to pull out her stitches so we needed a quick solution. she hated it at first but soon got used to it and as it limited her mobility it meant she couldn't jump onto high surfaces and potentially hurt herself.

All mine, male or female, came home and acted like nothing happened. A cone just causes stress 🙀😾 as does isolation. Baby onesie if absolutely necessary.
