Beginning of October will have an 10hr layover in Vienna. Any places we should hit?

Zattl Biergarten for an authentic beer garden experience (schnitzel, too), tour Stephansdom (I recommend the crypt), and see Ankeruhr (historical clock set up in a wall).

Also, the Imperial Crypt is separate from the cathedral, some ornate historical tombs.

Schonbrunn Palace is my favourite place in Vienna. Not so much for the palace itself but the grounds. They’re free to explore and so beautiful. That’d be my recommendation if the weather is all right when you land. And get some famous Viennese food, like their schnitzel or sachertorte cake. If the weather is bad, it’s a very Viennese thing to cozy up in a cafe and enjoy some of their local fare.

& cafe Sacher next to Opera (or Cafe Demel). Just keep in mind time needed to travel to points of interest if outside central Vienna, besides the train trip and security upon return to airport.

Figmuller restaurants (2) both in high demand for their famous snitzel thats bigger than the plate…wait lines or need reservations.
