I am going to Ushuaia at the end of December and my flight to Buenos Aires arrives at 10:30 AM to EZE. Right now the only non-stop options to Ushuaia are out of AEP. According to some websites the quickest way to transfer is by a 30 minute taxi. So for those of you who have done something like this how long do you think it will take to get through customs and transfer to AEP. And what do you think the earliest flight you would be comfortable with reserving at AEP?

All the flights we are looking at so far are on Aerolineas Argentinas.

Do you think more options for flights will show up later if we wait to buy?

Any thoughts and advice are greatly appreciated.

My tickets were from the other direction with a night stay in Buenos Aires. So, I didn't go through the exact same experience. Aerolineas Argentinas owns that market with LATAM Argentina being the only other major airline but I don't think they have flights to/from Ushuaia.

You may find ultra-low-cost operators like flybondi, but that is a very unpredictable airline market - even with Aerolineas Argentinas, my experience was not great, so suggest staying with them. I don't think you will see any additional flights later.

Personally, considering Buenos Aires hotels are so reasonably priced ($100 for a good hotel in the city center), after a long flight, I will stay in the city for the day of arrival, walk around the city center, have dinner, and fly out the next morning.

If that is not an option, then go with the last direct flight leaving AEP at 3:30 PM and take a private transfer between the two airports. The 1:30 PM flight, if available, is too close, considering a 10:30 arrival at EZE.

I would do what Dave recommends. That’s what I do for positioning flights-spend the night.

I did that. I allowed 4 hours. I made my flight, but it was very stressful. Traffic can be bad between airports. I wouldn’t have made my flight, but the nice United staff walked me through the extremely long security line.
