KU versus selling the eBook – What has been more successful (financially) for you and why?

It really depends on the price and length of your book. I keep the prices low since I write in a very competitive genre and my books are rather long, so I get more money for a full read-through in KU than I would for someone purchasing the eBook.

This isn't an either or thing. You can be in KU AND sell copies of your book, in fact that's pretty much the only way you can do it. The only thing you can't do is go wide (sell on multiple platforms) if you're in KU.

That being said, for most authors, if you are in KU the majority of your income will come from KU. That's just how it works. If you don't already have a decent size reader based than KU can be a big help with that.
