Has anyone out there have a positive outcome with a vanity publisher?
I worked at one for about two weeks answering phones and doing light filing: the paycheck didn't bounce.
In my head, the best case outcome is you are paying a project manager to help you self publish.
If you have the budget and vet them for ethics and not being a scam, it's not the worst idea if you don't have the time or patience to teach yourself all the in's and outs of publishing

Vanity publishers take your money. They have no real interest in your work which is disheartening for writers who have chosen to take that path to publish their books. Traditional publishing contracts are difficult to get that’s why so many people choose to self publish, however many people have fallen foul of vanity presses.
My only goal, when I just started out as an author, was to have a PUBLISHED BOOK. That was all I wanted to accomplish. I have learned so so so much since then, but because it was relatively cheap and I actually exerted quite a bit of creative control in the process, it was not a bad experience.
