RyanAir lost my suitcase over a week ago and they’ve pretty much said there’s no chance of getting it back now and to make a claim

Would I get more going through my holiday insurance or RyanAir?

I don’t have receipts for most things either (who would keep receipts lying around their house past the time frame they can return the items?!)

I know I can claim for the cost of the suitcase but can I claim tor the cost it was to take the suitcase on the plane?

Also, on the form is says ‘no settlement will be provided for items purchased since the loss of your baggage.’ This can’t be right? Of course I had to buy things that went missing while we were out there. How was I meant to spend a week in Spain without my toddler having clothes, bottles, nappies etc?

Any knowledge would be great

Thanks
Sam

Virgin gave me an allowance a day when they lost mine, want to say $60 to replace the contents. It took a good few months for them to get the claim through tho, but they did pay out.

I think the clause not paying for stuff purchased after loss is for eg you had 1 pack of 36 nappies in your suitcase so you've purchased another pack of 36 if the pay for the pack In suitcase then the pack you purchased they effectively giving you free nappies if that makes sense and bank statements are your best but check what your holiday insurance covers.

Travel insurance, but you do need to provide proof of purchase and its always been like this, it isn't just Ryan air. So, look at your bank and credit card statements and photos of you wearing items as proof. Bit of a pain though.

I think if you look on your insurance policy it will state what you can claim up to with and without proof. I had a policy last year I’m sure which gave me up to £x I could claim for and I wouldn’t have to submit itemised lists. Hope you get it sorted.

As long as you are reasonable about what you claim for you'll probably be ok without receipts. 5 Gucci handbags and 4 MacBooks and they might question it lol.
